Issue Mag
Role: Art Director, Designer
Project Info
-
Year after year, there is a steady surge in lawmakers passing anti-transgender legislation throughout the country. I created Issue Mag for a women and gender studies class in college in 2021. That year, The Human Rights Campaign reported 155 anti-transgender bills throughout the legislative session.
In 2024, there have already been 661 proposed bills. While this issue unfortunately remains relevant, Issue Mag was created to educate readers about anti-trans legislation and offer resources to help fight it.

With nods to the Riot Grrrl movement and early punk-rock feminist zines, Issue Mag is an act of rebellion both in its content and design. Each section addresses critical issues impacting the trans community, exploring topics from bathroom access to sports, healthcare, and education.
CREATIVE STRATEGY
Coloring outside the lines
Channeling the rebellious spirit of the Riot Grrrl movement, this zine boldly confronts and dismantles systems through its content and design. Vibrant colors and dynamic typography interweave with powerful imagery. Each page is a call to action, inviting readers to engage, educate, and empower themselves in the fight against anti-transgender legislation.
